The huge mobilization of people around the world is not only generating discussion about different topics, like integration in the new country, intercultural issues, or language learning. Families who decide to move to another country are also faced with an extra complex aspect of the expatriate life, because their children are growing up among different worlds and cultures. They experience childhood, in a completely different way when compared to their parents’ childhood experience. As a matter of fact, the number of people who spend a significant part of their childhood in different countries is increasing quickly, and it is becoming the norm rather than the exception. We therefore need to be informed about how these people navigate the complexity of life. This workshop aims at explaining the phenomenon of “Third Culture Kids” or “Cross Culture Kids”, taking into account linguistic and psychological aspects.
